Agencies are more quickly recovering stolen license plates and vehicles as they go about their normal duties each shift. In Texas, a special law enforcement vehicle recovery task force working with the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) deployed one MPH-900 Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) in April 2008 and has greatly increased their vehicle recovery rate. The advanced ALPR system reads up to 3,600 license plates per minute, alerting officers within milliseconds of reading the plate of a stolen vehicle.
